Qualitative Research Interest Group

The Qualitative Research Interest Group (QRIG) is a working group composed of faculty and graduate students who are engaged in enhancing knowledge and utilization of mixed qualitative methods in research and teaching. It is co-sponsored by the Maryland Population Research Center.

QRIG Seed Grants

CRGE and the Maryland Population Research Center offer two seed grant opportunities for early career faculty and doctoral candidates at the University of Maryland.

QRIG Faculty Seed Grant

The faculty seed grant provides $1,000-$5,000 to early career faculty for the opportunity to develop a study that primarily uses qualitative research methods (including: participant-observation, in-depth interviews, focus groups, life histories, or ethnographies) or mixed qualitative and quantitative methods.

The call for proposals is made in September, applications are due in November, and awards are announced in December.

NEW QRIG Dissertation Seed Grant

The dissertation seed grant provides $1,000-$2,500 for doctoral candidates to fund data analysis costs for dissertations that primarily use qualitative research methods (including: participant-observation, in-depth interviews, focus groups, life histories, or ethnographies with human subjects) or mixed qualitative and quantitative methods.

The call for proposals is made in September, applications are due in November, and awards are announced in December.
